PRESENTATION OVERVIEW:
This webinar focuses on questions related to Federal and State housing codes, regulations, and guidelines. The discussion also includes differences between California Building Code Chapters 11A and 11B and facilities where both Chapters apply. The topics covered include transit-oriented development, accessibility at fire stations, density bonuses, extended-stay hotels, and more.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Participants will be able to:
- learn where to find technical guidance from the US Department of Justice for Projects that require a determination beyond what the codes provide;
- gain knowledge of the impact on projects where California Building Code Chapters 11A and 11B apply;
- understand the process for determining which codes, regulations, and standards apply to housing projects;
- learn how to analyze California Laws and their impact on housing and accessibility.

Access Compliance Consulting
In August of 2021, after leaving the Division of the State Architect, Headquarters Office, Susan founded Access Compliance Consulting. She is the sole proprietor of her woman-owned business. She’s using her thirty-plus years of experience to provide training, consulting, and publications on accessibility in the built environment.
Susan develops and delivers online and in-person access compliance training and is an AIA Continuing Education Services provider. The training is based on Federal and state regulations and codes. Susan has developed expertise in the myriad of privately funded and public housing regulations and has published a guidance document based on those regulations.
She is a member of International Code Council (ICC), Certified Access Specialist Institute (CASI), American Institute of Architects (AIA), and the Accessibility Professionals Association (APA).
