The Department of Justice issued updated regulations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on July 26, the 20th anniversary of the law’s enactment. The rules supplement various requirements and implement new standards for the construction and alteration of facilities that are based on guidelines established by the Access Board. President Barack Obama announced the news at a White House ceremony celebrating the ADA’s anniversary.
